The "bardeneros" are men in the countryside, specifically farmers of the Bardenas, the largest desert area in southern Europe, located in Navarra (Spain). A unique arid ecosystem, admired internationally for the picturesque geometry of its geological forms.

The emotional influence of this landscape in the painting of Gloria Ferrer is due to the fact that the town of origin of the painter, Mélida, is located in that area. The surrounding villages, such as Mélida, have traditionally exploited the pastures and dry land of this emblematic natural space.

The oil is framed in the narrative painting of Gloria Ferrer, specifically in its rural painting segment. The pictorial technique employed in this painting makes it different and special. Just look at how the farmers' shirts are painted, or the few strokes that are used in the composition of the landscape. The use of the material is minimal, since the artist uses the white of the canvas for the composition. However, the result is colorful and intense.

The colors used and their nuances evoke the austerity of the Bardenas, the country men, unconcerned, made to their lives, pose indifferent to the storm that is approaching from afar.

The Bardeneros is undoubtedly a considerable piece, which will undoubtedly occupy an important space in the future within the work of the painter.
